How has ASDA helped you build your leadership skills? ASDA has truly helped me break out of my shell and become a better version of myself. I used to get incredibly nervous presenting my work or ideas to my colleagues, but through ASDA, I was able to breakdown my fears and feel confident in the content I brought to the table. In addition, ASDA has helped me sharpen my time management skills by holding me accountable to my responsibilities in ASDA as well as my studies in dental school.

What do you think is the most vital quality in a leader? I believe the most vital quality in a leader is empathy. With so much going on in our work and school lives, I feel like people often forget that others are dealing with issues in their personal lives. An effective leader is someone that understands there is more to life than work or school, and can help guide those who are struggling. They are willing to have difficult conversations to create a safe environment and better understand the needs of those around them.

Why should members get involved with ASDA leadership positions? ASDA leadership positions are a great way to explore your strengths and improve your weakness. Within ASDA, there are various opportunities to learn about being the best version of yourself as well as how to be an effective leader in your community. ASDA is more than just an organization, it is a combination of amazing leaders that come together to fight for important issues facing the dental industry and a group of friends that turn into lifelong family.

What future leadership roles in organized denstiry interest you and why? I would love to become a District Trustee in order to work with various chapters, learn about what issues are important to them, and present their ideas to the district and national ASDA. I believe effective communication between the local, district, and national level are important in fostering ideas to improve the student experience and to discuss important topics in the dental profession.
