ASDA’s advocacy efforts have influenced licensure reform in numerous states. It is important for ASDA members to understand ASDA’s recent efforts and how to take grassroots action to advocate for permanent licensure reform. This webinar will provide ASDA members with updates on dental licensure, share information about the licensure task force and provide resources to assist members in grassroots advocacy efforts.

Sydney Shapiro, 2020-21 ASDA President
Sydney is a fourth year dual degree DDS-Master of Public Health student at Columbia University. She currently serves as the President of the American Student Dental Association. She has previously served as ASDA’s Council on Professional Issues Associate and then Chair and has held various positions on the district and local levels of ASDA. She represents dental students’ interests on the Coalition for Modernizing Dental Licensure and the ADA Council on Dental Education and Licensure. Sydney hopes to pursue a career in pediatric dentistry after graduation.
Craig McKenzie, 2020-21 ASDA Immediate Past President
Craig is a fourth year dual degree student at the University of Pennsylvania pursuing an MSEd and DMD. He has been involved in ASDA since he was a predental and has served in many local, district, and national roles. Craig was the national ASDA president from 2019-2020 where he focused ASDA's efforts on licensure reform. He is a consultant on the ADA's Council on Dental Education and Licensure and serves on the executive committee of the Coalition for Modernizing Dental Licensure. He plans to specialize in dental anesthesia following graduation.
