Dental midlevel providers are a hot topic in organized dentistry and one of ASDA’s main advocacy issues. Tune into the Council on Advocacy’s advo-cast at 7:30 p.m. CST on Thursday, Nov. 14 to learn more about midlevel providers and ASDA’s stance. This advo-cast will feature interviews with two midlevel provider experts. They’ll focus on midlevel legislation and the role of Community Dental Health Coordinators.
Dr. Jane Grover, MPH
- Dr. Jane Grover became the Director of the Council on Advocacy for Access and Prevention of the American Dental Association in April 2013. She oversees Association activities on topics such as community water fluoridation, dental sealants, school based dental programs, community health center, access to care and funding of public health dental programs.
Dr. Debra Peters, Michigan Dental Association Immediate Past President
- Dr. Debra Peters, of Grand Rapids, has been an active member and dedicated volunteer with the Michigan Dental Association and organized dentistry for the past 26 years. She is immediate past president of the MDA, bringing a history of outstanding leadership, dependability, and community service. She served as president during the adoption of the Dental Therapist legislation in Michigan. Dr. Peters joined the MDA Board of Trustees in 2008 as speaker of the House of Delegates, serving until 2017. She also is a former chair of the MDA Committee on the New Dentist.
Gerard Scannell, Louisiana '21, District 5 Trustee
- Gerard Scannell is a 3rd year dental student at Louisiana. In addition to serving as the Louisiana chapter president, Gerard is ASDA’s District 5 Trustee. He is a board liaison to ASDA’s Council on Advocacy and was appointed as the ASDA consultant to the American Dental Political Action Committee.
