Sorting out your finances is vitally important – not only for your peace of mind, but also for your long-term financial well-being.

Overview

At the conclusion of this session, participants will be able to:

  1. Identify if they are making one of the common financial mistakes that begin in school including ignoring their finances or assuming they are experts
  2. Make strategies for avoiding lifestyle creep once they become practicing dentists with examples as well as the importance of spending on things that matter to them
  3. Reflect on their own financial priorities by learning the Protect – Plan – Play model
  4. Learn how to recognize and avoid bad advice such as chasing the latest trends or following “water cooler” talk
  5. Differentiate between the options for managing student loans post-graduation
Panelist

Michael Jerkins, MD, M.Ed

Michael-Jerkins-sqMichael is a practicing physician in Little Rock, Arkansas as well as the president and co-founder of Panacea Financial, a bank built for doctors, by doctors. After earning his BBA in Economics he deferred his medical school acceptance to teach middle school science in the Phoenix, Arizona area while also earning his Masters in Education from Arizona State University. He then completed medical school at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center before finishing his residency at University of Cincinnati Medical Center and Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. With a faculty position and board certifications in both Internal Medicine and Pediatrics, Michael is able to treat patients of all ages and teach medical trainees in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
