At the conclusion of this session, participants will be able to:

1. Hear about a successful advocacy event one chapter held and the reasons for its success.
2. Gain new ideas for advocacy events to implement.
3. Learn from other ASDA members across the country about how to address challenges at the local level.

Judd Burns, Louisville ’24. 2022-23 District 7 Trustee

Originally from Beebe, Arkansas, Judd Burns is a D3 at the University of Louisville School of Dentistry. Prior to moving to Kentucky, he received his undergraduate and graduate degrees in voice performance from the University of Arkansas. In his spare time, he loves to sing, play video games, explore new eating options with his wife, and throw the ball with their dog Tilly. Judd serves as Trustee for District 7, and as a Board liaison to the Council on Advocacy. Upon graduation, he will begin working with the National Health Service Corps to provide dental care in underserved communities.

HeeJue Hong, Louisville ’23

HeeJue Hong is a fourth year dental student at the University of Louisville School of Dentistry. Over the last four years, ASDA has played a fundamental role in her dental school experience. HeeJue began her involvement in her ASDA chapter as Social Media Chair, then part of the executive board as Legislative Liaison, and now she serves as Membership Chair. In her free time, she loves to spend time with her close friends, attend fitness studios, and explore new eats in various cities. Upon graduation, she will be continuing her dental education in Salt Lake City, Utah for a General Practice Residency at the Veterans Affairs Hospital.
