Thanks for celebrating Advocacy Month 2024!
Each November, ASDA celebrates Advocacy Month as our annual commitment to educating members on the importance of advocacy and developing engagement opportunities.
Advocacy Month 2024: Win the Race, Sprinting Towards a Better Future challenged members to run to the polls and advocate for issues that impact the future of dentistry. When it comes to addressing barriers to care, every stride counts!
Throughout the month, ASDA members participated in various challenges through ASDA and its chapters across the U.S. Here’s some of this year’s Advocacy Month highlights:
- 1,400+ members nationwide reported being registered voters for the 2024 election.
- 66 points were recorded in the Advocacy Certificate Program in November. Forget to submit your points? You have until February 28, 2025 to record them here and earn your custom Advocacy Certificate.
- Chapters hosted events ranging from advocacy debate nights and scavenger hunts to Lunch & Learns and letters to legislator events.
- 368 ASDA members signed up for ASDA Action Alerts.
Work beyond November
Our advocacy work doesn’t stop in November. Here’s some ways to celebrate and practice advocacy year-round:
- Participate in your chapter’s advocacy events. We think advocacy is most effective when working and learning with those around you.
- Earn points in the ASDA Advocacy Certificate Program. Submitting 8 points by February 28, 2025 will guarantee your custom Advocacy Certificate. The student with the most points by Annual Session 2025 will also be awarded the Excellence in Advocacy Engagement Award. Learn more ways to earn points and submit them here.
- Keep an eye out for ASDA Action Alerts. We’ll update you throughout the year on pressing political and regulatory issues that are impacting dental students. Sign up here.
- Ask your chapter leaders about attending a Lobby Day to talk with your representatives about the most important issues facing the dental profession and public oral health.
