Gold Crown Awards -
Community Dentistry
These awards are co-sponsored by Crest Oral-B presented to ASDA chapters for their excellence in designing and implementing oral health programs with groups that lack access to oral health education and dental care. Awards will be presented to first, second and third place in the amounts of $700, $500 and $300. In addition, each District that has 100 percent of their chapters participating in this program will receive $500 towards District activities.
Application Guidelines & Award Criteria
Chapters must participate in at least two outreach events to be eligible. Outreach programs can be geared toward any age group and should include delivery of services such as oral screenings and oral health education. Programs must be sponsored by the ASDA chapter and include significant participation and leadership by dental students.
A call for intention forms will go out in summer of 2013. Participating chapters will be required to submit an electronic report on their completed outreach activities by Jan. 31, 2014.
Judging
Faculty members at various dental schools will judge the entries. Each chapter’s report will be judged by the following criteria:
- Use of Crest and Oral-B preventive products, banners and educational materials in the event
- Demonstrate that the grant money was used solely for the purpose of buying Crest Oral-B products
- Percentage of chapter member participation
- Variety and range of programs
- Creativity and innovation of program
- Chapters’ goals clear and accomplished
Winners will be recognized at the Gold Crown Ceremony held during Annual Session.
In 2013, Arizona, Los Angeles and Boston were awarded for outstanding community dentistry.
